StudentChat is a free, moderated online chat community designed specifically for students aged 17 and older. It provides a safe environment for students worldwide to connect, make friends, and chat about shared interests across topic-based chat rooms.
Is StudentChat really free?
Yes, StudentChat is 100% free forever. There are no premium tiers, subscriptions, or hidden fees. Every feature — including private messaging, profile customization, and access to all chat rooms — is available to every member at no cost.
Who can join StudentChat?
Anyone aged 13 and older is welcome to join. We are a student-focused community, but anyone who meets the age requirement and agrees to follow our community guidelines can create an account and participate.
How do I register?
Click the Register button on the login page, choose a username and password, select your gender and age, and agree to the community rules. No email is required. The entire process takes about 2 minutes.
Is an email required to sign up?
No, an email address is optional. You can register with just a username and password. We respect your privacy and minimize the personal information we collect.
Can I use StudentChat on mobile?
Absolutely. StudentChat is fully responsive and works on all devices — phones, tablets, and desktops. The interface adapts to your screen size for an optimal chatting experience on any device.

Are chat rooms moderated?
Yes, all public chat rooms are monitored 24/7 by our team of professional moderators. We use a combination of live human moderation and AI-powered filtering to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
How do I report inappropriate behavior?
Use the report button located on any message in the chat room. Our moderation team is notified instantly and typically responds within minutes. You can also contact us directly via email for serious concerns.
What happens if someone breaks the rules?
We have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, hate speech, and inappropriate content. Violations result in immediate action ranging from warnings to permanent bans, depending on severity.
Is my private information safe?
Yes. We never share or sell your personal data. Your conversations are private, and we minimize the data we collect. You can use the platform with only a username — no email or real name required.
Can I block another user?
Yes, you can block any user who is making you uncomfortable. Blocked users cannot send you messages or view your profile. Combined with our moderation system, this gives you full control over your experience.

What features does StudentChat offer?

Can I create my own chat room?
Yes, once you reach the required level, you can create and customize your own chat room. You can set the topic, access rules, and even appoint moderators for your room.
How does the level system work?
You earn experience points by participating in chat rooms, sending messages, and being an active community member. As you level up, you unlock new features and privileges. Top members are featured on the leaderboards.
Can I change my username?
Username changes may be available depending on your account level and rank. Contact a moderator if you need to change your username for privacy or personal reasons.
How do I delete my account?
Account deletion requests can be sent to our support email. We will process your request within 48 hours and permanently remove your data from our systems.
What are the community rules?
Our rules are simple: be kind and respectful to others, do not share personal information, no harassment or hate speech, no inappropriate content, and help us keep the community safe by reporting issues when you see them.
Can I share files and images?
Yes, StudentChat supports file and image sharing in chat rooms. Supported file types include images, documents, and media files. All shared content is subject to moderation.
